Our mission
Every student deserves
a counselor
The average public school counselor serves over 400 students. Private college counselors charge $150–$300 per hour. That guidance gap means wealthier families get better college outcomes — not because their kids are smarter, but because they had better information.
FindMySchool.ai uses AI and federal data to give every family counselor-quality college guidance — accessible to everyone.
How it works
From quiz to report in minutes
No more endless scrolling. Tell us about yourself, and we'll do the research.
Take the quiz
A 5-minute questionnaire covering academics, interests, budget, location preferences, and what matters most to you in a school.
AI does the research
Our AI cross-references your profile against 6,400+ schools using federal data on academics, costs, outcomes, safety, and climate.
Get your report
A personalized ranked list with match scores, financial estimates, safety data, and a written rationale for why each school fits.
Our data
Transparent about where data comes from
We don't make up rankings or rely on school-submitted marketing. Every data point traces back to a federal source you can verify.
College Scorecard
U.S. Dept. of Education data on costs, graduation rates, earnings, and loan repayment across 6,400+ schools.
IPEDS
Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System — 210,000+ programs, enrollment, faculty, and institutional characteristics.
Open-Meteo
Historical climate data so you know whether you'll actually enjoy the weather at each school year-round.
Clery Act Data
Federally mandated on-campus crime, arrest, and disciplinary-referral counts colleges must report under the Clery Act. We show campus data only — not surrounding-area or city crime statistics.
Methodology
How to read our numbers
Federal data is published on its own schedule, not ours. Here's what every figure on FindMySchool.ai actually means.
Different fields, different years. A single College Scorecard release bundles admissions, cost, and earnings fields that the Department of Education itself compiled from different academic years and cohorts. We display each school's report generation date, but individual metrics (e.g. 10-year earnings vs. this year's tuition) are not all drawn from the same year.
Campus safety data is dynamic, not fixed to a year. Clery Act figures reflect the most recent federal collection cycle and identify the specific reporting year and period they cover on each report — we don't hardcode a year in our copy, since the underlying collection updates annually.
Climate is a recent multi-year average, not an official normal. Our weather figures are averages we compute from recent historical daily data. They are not NOAA's official 30-year climate normals, and we label them as a recent-years average rather than implying a longer-term standard.
Common Data Set coverage is limited, not product-wide. A small number of schools have supplemental admissions-factor detail sourced from their individually published Common Data Set PDFs. Most schools on FindMySchool.ai do not have this supplemental layer — the core Scorecard and IPEDS data covers every school.
Federal facts vs. AI judgment. Numbers like tuition, acceptance rate, and graduation rate are sourced directly from federal datasets. Campus-culture descriptions, "vibe" scores, and narrative summaries are AI-generated qualitative assessments, not verified federal statistics — we label them as AI-derived wherever they appear.
The team
Built by a small team obsessed with making college search less stressful. We believe the college search process shouldn't be a privilege — and that technology can level the playing field.
Honesty
What we're NOT
We'd rather be honest about our limits than oversell what we do.
Not a replacement for school counselors
School counselors bring human judgment, relationship, and nuance we can't replicate. We're a starting point, not a substitute.
Not an admissions consultant
We don't help you write essays, coach interviews, or strategize your application. We help you find schools worth applying to.
Not affiliated with any college
No college pays us, sponsors us, or influences our rankings. Our recommendations are driven purely by your profile and federal data.
